Hiking Trip - Serjbel Hike - Chouf District

  • Located in the heart of the Shouf district, Serjbel is a captivating typical Lebanese village. It is situated on the shore of Naher El Jahliyeh, a breathtaking river that runs through the region all year round. This stream hosts numerous waterfalls, the most famous of which is probably Serjbel Waterfall, visited by hundreds each year for its freezing cold water and heavenly atmosphere.

    The locals have built and maintained stunning trails across the magnificent landscape and diverse flora of the area. Starting from Serjbel, we will make our way to the river, before taking a path crossing into the lovely villages of Chamaarine, Fkhaite, and Debiyeh.

    Our hike will be divided into two levels to better suit everyone:

    Level 4 - Our hike will take place alongside the river, crossing multiple wooden bridges and visiting old historical watermills. The abundant trees and wild vegetation will provide us with shade during this entire part. After which we will begin our ascent, reaching the church of Mar Abda, before making our way to the famed waterfall.

    Level 5 will continue hiking back towards Serjbel, on a steep 340m uphill track, where we will meet the rest of the group.

    After this beautiful hike, we will all sit together in a beautiful place to eat a delicious homemade lunch prepared for us.

    There will be a breakfast stop along the way.

    PRICE: 60$ per person including transport, guides, reserve entrance, lunch and insurance.

    WHAT TO GET: Light snacks that will boost up your energy such as dried fruits, water, cap, sunglasses and sunscreen. Wear comfortable shoes such as hiking shoes and always keep a windproof jacket in your backpack.

    SPECIAL RATES:
    - Children with the age of 10 and younger will have a discount of 5$.
    - Children/ Teenagers between the age of 11 and 18 will have a discount of 4$.
    - University students will have a discount of 3$ provided that they present their university card.
    - Groups with 5 to 9 persons, with different criteria than the above, will get a 2$ discount.
    - Groups with 10 or more persons, with different criteria than the above, will get a 3$ discount.

    PAYMENT TERMS:
    - Cancellation with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged half-price
    - Reservations with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged an extra 2$.
    (e.g. Cancelling or booking for a Sunday’s event on Saturday will be subject to the above terms)

    ESSENTIAL ECOTOURISTIC RULES & REGULATIONS
    - Smoking is strictly prohibited during the event
    - Always follow the guide on the designated trail
    - Do not go off road without notifying the guide
    - Do not get close to a cliff especially when the guide in charge tells you not to do so
    - Although accidents are covered by the insurance but they remain under the responsibility of the member
    - Sometimes, due to reasons beyond our control, slight modifications to the program may occur. Ecotourism rules must be followed, otherwise personal accidents will not be accounted for by the insurance.
